Red diesel has long been used for commercial applications, powering a range of off-road vehicles and equipment. Commonly referred to as gas oil, many homeowners also rely on this fuel to power their central heating system and keep their homes warm.
However, in April 2022, new red diesel regulations were introduced about how it can be used. Although many sectors have had to change their fuel source, red diesel can still be used for domestic heating, agriculture and rail. Whether you own a business or a home, we know cost is crucial in these unprecedented times. That’s why we’ve created this guide, to tell you everything you need to know about the price of red diesel.
The price of red diesel tends to fluctuate on a regular basis and as a result, can increase or decrease several times a day. As such, the average price of red diesel per litre in the UK changes year-on-year. For example, the average price of red diesel per litre was 44p in 2009, 71p in 2012 and 50.2p in 2017. Fortunately, there are many ways you can save on the cost of red diesel.
If you’re one of our domestic customers, you can use of our helpful Savings Plan. This allows you to spread the cost of your red diesel or kerosene, making it more affordable to heat your home. While our commercial customers can benefit from buying fuel in bulk. This is the cheapest way to keep your fleet or operations moving and could add up to large savings over time.
There are many factors that influence the price of red diesel. This includes refinery costs, the price of crude oil, supply and demand, transport and distribution, weather, exchange rates and international conflict. This means it’s difficult to predict the price of red diesel, as it’s dependent upon a range of external factors.
Here at Your NRG, we pride ourselves on providing competitive and affordable diesel prices to customers across the UK. From your home to your business, our friendly and knowledgeable experts can help you find the best deal on red diesel. This includes no hidden fees, so the price we quote is the price you pay. Use our quote tool to get your quote today.Â
As of 2022, white diesel is charged at a fuel duty rate of 57.95p per litre while red diesel is charged at a rebated rate of 11.14p per litre. However, the red diesel regulations were updated in April 2022, with many sectors and industries no longer permitted to use rebated red diesel. For those who can continue using red diesel for off-road vehicles, engines and equipment, you will still be entitled to a rebate of 46.81p per litre. To find out if the new legislation applies to you, visit our red diesel and gas oil duty change page.
Here at Your NRG, we make it easy for you to buy red diesel at the best possible prices. If you have any questions about pricing or the legislation change, contact us. Alternatively, get a quote instantly by using our online tool.
